Victim Offender Mediation Coordinator (Lawrence County General Sessions Court)
David Mitzel brings a diverse background to The Mediation Center. Earlier during his career he served in various executive roles within the environmental field, working with nongovernment organizations in Central America and Washington, D.C. He later moved into the Human Services field where he gained experience working in mediation, both as a volunteer and a staff member. Early on he facilitated weekly group meetings of male domestic violence offenders at the Time for Change Community Services in Columbia. He later served as a court mediator for Mid-South Mediation Services in Hohenwald. Before then, he was a Medicare Benefits Counselor with the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) in Columbia. David has a Master of Arts in International Administration/Intercultural Human Service Management from SIT Graduate Institute, Vermont and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from East Stroudsburg University, Pennsylvania. He has an Intermediate facility in Spanish.
